Blake Thiessen
Blake began swing dancing in 2014 as a New Year's resolution while a college student in Southern California—unaware he was stepping into one of the world's largest and most historic scenes. Quickly hooked, he immersed himself in Lindy, Balboa, and Collegiate Shag, going on to win international competitions and teach across Europe, Korea, Japan, Australia, and the US.
A passionate student of vintage dance, he draws inspiration from original dancers, focusing his teaching on their styles and techniques. He emphasizes partner connection, musicality, and strong fundamentals—while believing the true joy of dance lies in a simple, deeply connected social dance with a like-minded partner.

Grace Babbes
Meet Grace, the muse of Bal&Hop. With her lovely charm, she brings warmth and joy to everyone around her. We are excited to welcome her back after two years.
Grace grew up in a family of artists and started performing at the age of four. She discovered Lindy Hop in 2012 and quickly became a familiar face on the social dance floors of Southern California.
She has won awards at many events such as ILHC, Camp Hollywood, and Hot Rhythm Holiday. Today, she travels the world as an international instructor. She is also a DJ and vocalist, helping dancers connect with music, history, and each other.
Come experience Grace's passion, her fun energy, and her deep respect for the roots of swing dance at Bal&Hop 2026.
